Junk foods are highly processed foods consisting of chemical additives, artificial color and
preservatives. These foods are prepared in a way that they look appealing and are very enjoyable
to eat. Frequent consumption of junk food increases the intake of excess fat, simple
carbohydrates, and processed sugar which may lead to a higher risk of obesity and cardio-
vascular diseases, and other chronic health problems. The resulting obesity may begin clogging
up the arteries and lay the basis of an impending heart attack. It has also been suggested that
eating junk food affects the brain in the same way as consuming addictive drugs. People who
addict to junk food may even result in the rejection of healthier food options like fruits,
vegetables, salads, etc. leading to further lack of nourishment.
Good health is the necessity of living a healthy existence for every person which needs to
maintain a healthy diet and healthy food habits throughout life. However, the habit of consuming
junk food in many of us is increasing day by day and making our future sad and diseased mainly
our younger generations. Though junk foods are highly detrimental to our health, people
especially our younger generations have a strong preference on junk foods and lead an unhealthy
lifestyle. To prevent children from relying on junk foods, parents should be aware regarding the
dangerous effects of junk foods and provide homemade foods for their children. They have to
train their children about eating habits approximately from early age and make them clear about
the differences among healthy diet foods and junk foods. Truly speaking, food is fuel to our body
because we get energy from what we eat. So, the effect of junk foods on young generations does
not limit to only health and academics, but is majorly seen as a threat to addiction which brings
miserable agonies for them.
